Why I chose Mauritius

31.12 20: Making the decision to relocate is not easy. Relocating during a global pandemic is madness. I think I speak for many when I say it is an emotional roller-coaster. Many are waiting in limbo, homeless, car-less and have kids who are now school-less.

During this difficult time, I am reminded of why I chose Mauritius. I had other options, but Mauritius is where I feel my family would be most happy and where I can actively contribute to the economy. I understand why the government is insisting on strict protocols, and I support them. These protocols will protect my family too. During the past few months, I have been pleasantly surprised by the unity and friendship people have shown each other on this and other Mauritian groups. I have met many people who have offered advice and kindness. This makes me so excited to get to my new home and meet everyone in person.

To those like me who feel stranded and stressed due to the uncertainties, let’s remember why we chose Mauritius… let’s remember why we want to be there. It’s not being cancelled, just postponed. I hope to meet you all soon and become part of and contribute to this wonderful community. Happy new year to you all and thank you for the hope and inspiration you provide daily.
